Identify the producer for each obligation
Brand ownership, import activity and route to market can place responsibility on different legal entities. Map the contracting entity, product brand, country of first placement and marketplace role. Record the reason for each scope decision.
Build a connected product record
Give each product a stable identifier. Link the EEE category, net product weight and battery specification to that identifier. Add packaging components as separate child records. Join sales and imports by date, legal entity and destination.

SKU, brand, supplier, legal entity, market route and transaction volume.
Kept separate
Regulatory category, obligated weight, reporting period, scheme output and approval.
Monthly control workflow
- Add new products before the first UK sale.
- Collect specifications from suppliers and flag missing weights.
- Join sales, returns and imports to the correct product version.
- Review exceptions for each return instead of blending the totals.
- Lock each approved return and retain its source extract.

Checks before submission
- Follow the applicable instructions when separating battery mass from EEE weight.
- Keep shipment packaging separate from the product pack.
- Use the reporting period and category list for the relevant rules.
- Reconcile units across returns, replacements and bundled products.

Add a compliance gate to product launch
Product teams should provide the EEE category, net weight, battery type and packaging bill of materials before the first UK sale. Compliance can then confirm registrations and scheme routes.

Reconcile the three outputs
Unit counts should tell a coherent story even though obligated weights differ. Investigate a WEEE unit total that exceeds product sales, battery quantities that do not match battery-containing models or packaging totals with no shipment volume.
Document legitimate differences, including spare batteries, products sold without batteries, replacement equipment and packaging added by a fulfilment partner.
